An oasis in the southern
California desert community
of Rancho Mirage
On a striking lot, with incredible mountain views, this Rancho Mirage, California residence was calling out to become an oasis in the mecca of mid – century modern design.
Boothill house became an extensive interior and exterior remodel with a 2800 square-foot expansion of space to include a bedroom suite, media room, gym and detached garage. By eliminating bulky support walls in favor of more glass, the front façade now opens up to a premium outdoor kitchen, native gardens, silken lawns and a brilliant pool and spa.
Clean lines, pops of color and a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces makes this a distinctive Desert Modern home.
Creating unique moments, make a project sing. Incorporating custom fabricated details are one of our specialties. Here we were able to create a large format version of the iconic Slim Aaron’s Kaufman House pool image, which was an original inspiration piece. As well as, a back-lit glass wall enhancing the wet bar, using my original photography of the blue pool tilework. We also designed and fabricated custom furnishings. A 10’ communal table and benches from Deodar Cedar planks and steel and the great room table from a Ponderosa Pine trunk. These woods were found and milled in Idyllwild, CA high atop the mountains that tower above the desert floor. Once again, paying attention to using local resources and craftsmen and women.
