native gardens supported by a rainwater capture system
1 acre Los Angeles
With ‘green’ matters and LEED protocols in the design-build industry making buzz-worthy news, consciously caring for the environment is a no brainer.
This project showcases what we believe to be a smart prototypical component for any new or existing constructed environment, be it commercial or residential. Featuring a 5000 gallon concrete rainwater capture tank, located in the center of the circular driveway, runoff water is diverted through existing drain lines and redistributed when site irrigation is necessary. Grasscrete, single-use forms were used to create areas of permeable hardscape, ready to accommodate native ground cover. In addition, vertical and rooftop gardens highlight succulents and other drought-tolerant plants, banishing water guzzling lawns, and making more efficient use of the rainwater captured.
